Latency with looper live 8

I want to know more about the latency of looper in live 8.
Can anyone tell me what latency to expect if I were to buy a new mac book pro and used looper with my novation x station as an audio midi interface?
I really want to know if it's going to work well before I invest the money, or should I just get a boss loop station?
please help.
I have tried out live 8's looper on the demo on my power book G4 but the latency is too much for it to be usable, will this be better on a new mac book pro?

If you want less latency you should probably try and decrease the buffer size in “Preferences/audio/buffer size“
in ableton live. (Note that doing this increases the CPU usage)
I am not sure how the latency would be in that setup that you want, but I doubt that the latency will be a lot.
Read my setup in my signature, I can get my latency down to 2.67ms.
But I tend to have it on 10ms.
But getting a new macbook and buying Live 8 is pretty expensive just to get a looper function, then a boss loop pedal would be cheaper!
But with live you get so much more stuff to use in the looping (Effects and such!)
I know a guitarist that use live 8 with a laptop and uses it for effects and strange effects, sounds really killer and he really knows how to tweak his sounds.

I use Live 8 looper for guitar with a X station and behringer FCB on a 2,4 ghz mbpro os 10.5.4.
I'd say novation's drivers aren't the best on the market as far as latency is concerned. But this works ok for me with the latency setting in live's prefs. Also, working with a low buffer helps, if you're not too greedy with the cpu.
If you're after live looping, I'd name the stereo memeory man by Electro harmonix, much more fun than boss pedals but you can't store the loops...

Did you solve your problems with the latency? What audio interface did you get?
