Live 8.08 Sluggish GUI

Hi Guys,
I am running Live 8.08 on an ibook 2.1ghz core 2 duo with 4 gig of ram and an external monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 I have noticed when the app is full screen the GUI runs very sluggishly. knobs and faders are noticeably delayed when using the mouse etc.
Is this behaviour usual for Live? If so why is this the case? Or am I the only one.

I've got the same exact problem mate, and I'm on a white macbook. I guess It's because we got a shitty integrated video card that shares its ram with the 'regular' ram.

I find that extremely hard to believe! Logic 9 runs flawlessly in fullscreen on my macbook, I also have 4gig of ram to boot. Thre is no way the screen requires that much power.
Abes can you please chime in on how this screen is rendering and if this could be a problem with hardware?

Nearly all notebooks including the macbook pro line's video cards share ram with the computers ram. If the operating system and the video card supports the resolution then the program should run fine. Every other app I own runs fine at this res.
Abes is Live using quartz extreme to render lives gui?
Can anybody else chime in with some knowledge in this area?

well, maybe other macbook (pro) video cards share ram as well, but it's not the point. The point is that our video cards are very simple integrated chipsets. Actually, we don't have video cards

. A macbook pro for example, got an nvidia that is 1000x more powerful than our integrated shit.
Also, my logic pro 8 GUI runs slowly if I show few plug-in UI in the screen while playing a track.

Well I have a Intel GMA X3100 chipset in my Macbook, which is certainly not just your simple graphics accelerator, it can play half life 2. Now this isn't as good as some of the offereing by ATI and NVIDIA but it's certainly not crap. I can have 30 odd tracks going in Logic and a hefty master chain to boot without the GUI slowing down.
I would say it's the way live is rendering.
Anybody else know anything?

Ha in your first post you said you had an iBook.
But then me too I have a macbook (the 2.4ghz) with the Intel GMA X3100.
This problem was introduced with Live 8, probably with their new Zoom feature. Increase the zoom at the maximum and you will see the GUI is much faster. Now, make everything small and it's much slower.
I wish there was a way to simply deactivate this feature and save some graphic process to have a smother GUI...
