I'm using ableton 4.0.1 with an evolution MK-425c controller keyboard and a Maya 44 soundcard.

Everything was working fine until I upgraded from Windows 2000 Professional to XP Professional.....

Now I cannot receive any MIDI data from my USB keyboard or computer keyboard.

If anyone can shed any light on this I would much appreciate as I've been trying all day.

Thanks in advance

What build of Win XP are you using? Is your equipment connected via USB2? Make sure you have applied all updates and security patches. there was a bugfix which solved some USB2 problems.

Other than that, I'd try Midi-Ox to check that MIDI data actually is received on the PC.

If you do, then there is probably a problem with the MIDI channel settings. If you don't, I'd double-check the drivers for your sound card or MIDI ports.

I've used XP for a long time now and have no MIDI problems, except that my Audiophile PCI card was prone to MIDI drop-outs until a patch was released.

I've found ableton just don't want to work on my XP setup for some reason.... it's the latest build downloaded from MS....

I've dual partitioned my harddisk now for both operating systems, I find this the best way to work...

I use 2000 exclusively with ableton...
it's nice and fast..

Other programs work with midi, but I've not really investigated any more..
just been using my tools rather than them using me!

cheers

Okay, whatever works for you. I'm running Live 4 on XP Home SP2 without a glitch.
