Hello,

is there anybody who can confirm (before I perform long test;) .. if the Live performs temp recording to some own format? Talking about OSX version (Windows users are limited with NTFS).

Apple Logic have ability to switch to CAF files. I need to perform about 10 hours nonstop recording, so is there a way to do that with Live?

AIF = max 2 GB
WAV = max 4 GB
CAF = In theory, No Limit

Thanks John

Hi, it is about recording of big electronic music events.. this time Markus Schulz, Sander Van Doorn.. etc.
I need multitrack recording for dry stereo line and few mics around for live crowd. about 15.000 people. I do this for many years, but I'm curios if Live can handle it. Have used Logic until now..

24 bit, 96KHz(stereo) 4,608 Kbps -- 576 KB(second) -- 34.56 MB(minute) -- 2.0736 GB(hour)

So if recording a stereo feed, you could record a little under 2 hours on that track, at this rate w/ WAV...
Half that for any other mono tracks.

For other rates...
16 bit, 44.1 KHz(stereo) -- 1,411.2 Kbps -- 176.4 KB -- 10.584 MB -- 635.04 MB
16 bit, 48 KHz(stereo) -- 1,536 Kbps -- 192 KB -- 11.520 MB -- 691.2 MB
24 bit, 48KHz(stereo) -- 2,304 Kbps -- 288 KB -- 17.28 MB -- 1.036 GB

Be sure to do a test run...

edit: Well you need to do 10 hours? Since Live only records to AIFF/WAV, I don't believe that will be possible unless you get ableton to start recording on new tracks after a certain amount of time. You could then splice them together after the fact.
