Hi,
ive got 2 clips i like to trigger. not even at the same time.
ive assigned to midi notes to it. Most of the time they start playing when i hit that midinote.
but sometimes all freezes up and it takes 2 secs to start. the timeline stops running aswell (freezes )
i cant have that ofcourse in a live situation.
What could be the problem?
live 7.0.15
osx 10.4.11

have you got fx racks on the channel, eg a beat repeat? try clearing them all and see if it helps.

just started a new scene..
only put 1 file in the clip..
when i toggle it on and off for a few times it freezes. i hear a slight audio distortion and then it stops for a few seconds.
edit: i narrowed it down to the midi input.
when i use my mouse to toggle the clipplay button all is fine.. but as soon as i use a midi trigger (keyboard/padkontrol) it freezes after a few times..cpu goes up to almost 200%

Update to Live 7.0.
16 and see what happens.

Sometimes I had the same problem when dropping a mp3 to a slot, that could lead to a freeze in Live (it was a random problem). As you might know Live doesn't handle mp3's but convert them to wavs instead.
That's why I don't drop tracks on the fly anymore... I just have my set with all the songs I could play that night, and choose from there, and play them, improvise, remix, enjoy, smile, play, drink beer, improvise, have fun, etc.

thanks,
i just updated to the latest.. 7.018 .

tried a aiff.. same problem
i will try a wav file.
see if that makes the difference.

hmm. tried it all. wav , mp3 . aiff.. cant reproduce it anymore.. seems working for now.
however my midi setup is not attached at the moment.
i guess the problem might be somewhere in my interface/keyboard.

Is your set saved on an internal or external drive? Is your internal drive by any change full? Does the hideous orange D blink when this problem occurs?

The almost full disc on your Mac could be the problem, when there's less than 20% of free space, the whole system starts to behave a little strange...slow,lazy,lagging,etc. My macbook Pro has a 120Gb and I always keep it with at least 25-30 Gb free...it runs like a charm.
BTW...it's time to free up some space...see ya mate

Yeah, well, I've noticed that similar problems (irrational delays on firing clips) start to occur on my laptops (3 last ones have been Macs) when the HDs are getting filled over 90% of their capacity, and yes, the hideous orange D doesn't always blink. My solution has been FW external HD to save my sets, and it has worked so far. Of course I'm not saying your problem could not be caused by something else.
