Midi controlling vs sending notes

Hi all,
I need some tips about controlling an external device which, in this case is a mbass (kick generator).
So, I use a midi channel and send notes to the mbass which sends audio into another audio channel; that basic set-up works. The only thing that I can't understand is, I'd like to use my nanokorg to control the mbass' parameters (ex. attack) but it doesn't work as it seems the notes are sent but the knobs movement are ignored. The only way I found is to put the midi channel in record mode, then the nanokorg can change the parameters while the kicks still play but then, all knobs are recorded as well (of course). Very annoying.
So, short story:
How do i send midi notes from a clip as well as knob movement to an external device at the same time?
My set-up: Live 8.09, Mac OS, RME soundcard, NanoKorg, mBass 11.
Any tips?
