here's a comment of mine from another thread
In the moment i'm REALLY tempted to buy Reaktor but i've got following drawbacks:
-No possibility to send/receive SYSEX data (important for me to do wierd things on my machinedrum)
-Dirty Soulution for the "NI text input bug" in Live. (editing the options.txt works but disables
the possibility to reach Live via Keyboard when a plugin is highlighted - workflowkiller for me)
-saving 150€ more and i have M4L. which does all of Reaktor PLUS X
thoughts?

incredible deal !
do buy reaktor 5 right now, you will never regret it,
tons of synths, sequencers, drum machines, + access to user forum with a huge and very high quality collection of instruments. They all work seamlessly within Live and you can modify them at will to suite you.
Go ! Go !
(i have also MFL, a whole different deal with lots of personnal involvment).

max4Live hasn't been out a week and there's a good selection of stuff to use. plus ALL the stuff that was done in max/msp can be ported over and there's LOTS of content that comes with max4Live, I don't think you know where to look.
no clue about Reaktor, just correcting some bad info. seeing as how max4Live is integrated into Live and has Live and C74 support it seems like the obvious choice. it costs more but I'd make this decision on quality over money.

Well for me I don't have the time to dig down into M4L and already own Reaktor so for the foreseeable future I am sticking with my current set of instruments. I also have hardly used Reaktor, like well over a year or more that I even fired it up lol. I have been keeping up with the updates though
Still for $99 go for Reaktor for now and see how M4L pans out once they get some of the issues I have seen popping up ironed out and more content available. If tight on budget that's what I'd do.

Just what I saw posted over in the support section.

Either Max for Live or Reaktor offer you a lifetime of learning.
Both have a steep learning curve.
If you have an external interface that begs an interactive flow - go with Max for Live because it integrates the I/O better.
But if you want an audio generator that allows you to use MIDI or audio as an interface, Reaktor wins, hands down.
If your joy is to modulate audio, choose Reaktor.
If your joy is to interface, use Max4Live.
At 99$ Reaktor is a clear win for the things I do.

^ another guy making the judgment that doesn't know the products. Jim you gave up on max4Live after 2 days of trying it and have been ranting against it ever since.
I'm not telling anyone what to get I'm just reading a lot of really lame reviews of max4Live from people that don't know what they're talking about.
only you know what you like to use. I'd try the demos and see which jibes with you the best.
