Hi guys,
want to get a dedicated desktop for Live, but always confused about proc speeds, graphics cards a.s.o.
I mean what are the most important things to look for ? 10.000 RPM disks, loads of RAM, decent processor.
Graphics card seems not to be that important to me - or am I wrong here ?
What do You think about these Velocity models ?

If its for Music or anything else for that matter then go for an ASUS motherboard (They run floorless).

And if you have the money get a 30 inch dell 3007wfp monitor 2560x1600 (Amazing how many tracks VSTs and other stuff you can have open and view all at the same time) I love mine
Graphic card geforce 7950GT which supports 2560x1600

Build your own PC or get it built for you by the shop that supplies the parts, if you buy a slapped together PC chances are most things inside will be crap.
I haven't seen a prebuilt desktop with an ASUS board before. im sure they are around i just ain't seen any.
BTW... A ASUS board that supports Pentium i7 processor and DDR3 ram

nowadays, consider an ssd instead. silent, lower power consumtion, still faster (depending on the usage MUCH faster) than any 10000 rpm disk.

i suggest the ones from intel, so far they gave me the best experience.

I never had an intel board but yeah they would be just as or better than ASUS. I have nothing bad to say about ASUS and always buy their boards.

Almost same config : ASUS P6T SE/Core i7 920/6 GB ram/Win 7 64

Runs Live like a charm .

For the graphics card, just get the cheapest one which supports your monitor native resolution. Ah and yeah, get it assembled or do it yourself. You'll get way more bang for the $$$
10k rmp is an overkill. 7200 runs pretty well, unless you're on a only audio/no VST and 64 tracks ;o)

Oh yeah and try to get more than one hard drive in there so you can run Apps on 1 and samples etc etc on the other
