working-inexpencive multichannel USB/PCMCI cards for OS9/OSX

Hi, i am looking for inexpencive 2in/4 out channel card for my PowerBook G3 or my iMacG4 for pre-listening purposes using Live with OS9 and in the near future(if it will ever arrive) in OSX.
I currently own MOTU 828 (firewire) works great .. and Tascam US28 (for midi control only) but i would like to use MOTU just for recording studio purpouses , for using Live onstage i would like to have a more inexpencive- no nonsence mobile solution ( ala QUATRO or EMI2/6....???),
what do You guys use for prelistening in Live with Powerbooks ?

P.S. i like the RME multiface size and performance (my friend got one ) but its arownd 1200 euro ....
