I'm thinking about selling my mpc2500 and picking up maschine...
any owners got advice/reviews about maschine with 1.1 update?

do it, will be a damn good investment made right there. <3 maschine. Drag and drop your beats in maschine directly into an audio track in live, after some warping to get the beats matched and your set.

selling the mpc1000 to get one meself

Akai has been riding on the reputation of MPCs and merely milking Roger Linn's original concept while technological progress and innovation has passed them by. You'd be a fool not to choose Maschine over the MPC.

Don't even think about it. even though I have all of these folks to thank for my nice little Maschine, that's not the point, DON'T SELL YOUR MPC 2500 you'd be a fool to do that, the my maschine is getting more wonderful by the minute but it's not like an mpc, without a doubt two different things here, look at it this way right now you have a computer and an mpc and you know they are two different things and they do not feel the same, if you sell your mpc and buy maschine you will then have a computer and no mpc, not a replacement for an mpc. maschine is cheap used, I got mine for basicly $200 new in a box, alot of knuckle heads who sold their mpcs for a maschine are selling their maschines now for cheap you can find a good deal, once you get one and learn it then you will see the difference and if you want to get rid of your mpc you will, but trust me.............you won't. the cats that are getting rid of their mpcs for maschine never really needed the unique experience the mpc offers in other words they're not really mpc heads and I'm not speaking ill of them i'm just saying maschine doesn't even feel like an mpc so how could it replace one, you wouldn't replace your guitar with a bass unless you really didn't like playing guitar all along.

k then...maybe ill sell my mpc2000 then and keep the 1000

Definitely not true. I've used many different MPCs over the years and appreciate them for what they offered but to me they're dead since I now have Maschine that does everything and more. It truly is a direct replacement for the MPC. And I'm not the only one who feels this way. If you look at the MPC-forums site, you'll see that plenty of MPC heads are switching platforms. Here's a review of Maschine from a long-time MPC user who has pretty much switched over:

Mind you, most MPC heads dismiss Maschine as being just a midi controller that's no different than a MPD or some such nonsense.

doesn't make sense if you've used many mpcs then you know that even the different mpcs feel different, maschine feels even more so different, any midi controller and a laptop can do more than an mpc that's not what's in question, they are not the same thing nor do they have the same feel. I understand that you directly replaced your mpc with a maschine but what you did not replace is the experience of using the mpc.

Anyway, I would argue "any midi controller and a laptop" is inferior to an integrated environment like the MPC where all the functions are controlled from the hardware as opposed to having to click around with a mouse and staring at a computer screen constantly. MPCs have the edge compared to a software + midi controller setups in terms of the efficient tactile workflow. Maschine takes this "all-in-the-box" hardware feel of the MPC but even takes it further with an even more efficent workflow combining it with the superior power of computer software. It truly is a MPC killer.

okay now I see where you're coming from carry on

gotta say, the forthcoming features in the next Maschine update look awesome... MPC60 and SP1200 emulation modes, granular FX, midi drag n drop.... I feel a bout of gearlust coming on...
