Is anyone else experiencing lag in live with 8.1?

just upgraded to 8.1 with the new file format, and have been experiencing lag on several files that were not lagging in 8.0.8. At first I tried starting a new session and importing all the tracks from the earlier version, but even the new project still lagged. Then I bounced all the tracks down to wav and reimported them into a new 8.1 session and that seemed to fix it for a while, but eventually that new file started lagging again. Considering I'm running a G5 with 7 gb of ram, I don't think its an issue with my computer, since I also tried it on another faster computer with the same result. is the new ableton format corrupt in some way?

Am I the only one having this problem?

No I am experiencing this problem as well. Live is VERY slow to respond to any command. It shows 2-3% CPU usage but Windows task manager shows roughly 55% CPU usage with increasing memory usage, which indicates that the GUI is using up all the processing power.

I am running Windows XP SP3 on an Athlon 64 X2

Yep same here - have 8Gb RAM in a MacPro & often the music is lagging more than a beat behind what the scrolling line is telling me.

i would recommend not installing 8.1 until this issue is resolved. or atleast keeping your 8.0.8 version ready.

Every time I load Live it starts to load my samples, then hangs up for at least 20 seconds, then it will let me start going.

Funny thing is it stops loading the samples in until the hang up is over then it proceeds from where it left off. Thought it was getting hung up on the 150+ audio/midi clips but it starts where it left off with loading the clips so I don't think it's that.. And it's not the same clip every time so it's not just a problem clip trying to load up..

Did a fresh install of 10.6.2 and it still happends. so yeah hope its not a snow leo prob..

I'm getting the same thing. If I try to launch a different clip in the same channel - it will immediately stop audio (even though global quantize is on 1 bar) before starting the new clip.

Also running Snow Leopard. Also hope it's not a Snow Lep problem.

I've also noticed that even the simplest sets stutter and break up if changing tempo.

Funny how the same 'timelag' seems to be affecting tech support's response times too. I wonder if the whole company has fallen through the fabric of time somewhere along the line?

Upgrading to 8.1 also changed my libraries so now there is no going back. I cannot work with my projects under these lagging and freezing conditions. So for now I'm using Logic to preserve my creativity.
