Unclear feature in Axiom documentation... align slider

I have just set up my Axiom 61 to work with Live 8.1 (Mac) -
I have a good handle on everything in the default "Axiom 49 61 Classic" control surface implementation, except -
at the bottom of p.4 of the Live lesson describing how to set up the Axiom, this cryptic comment:
"Hint: press 'Ctrl Mute' to align a slider to a volume fader in Live without the parameter jumping"
This would be a great feature, especially since I can't get takeover modes to work right with the Axiom!
But, I can't figure out what 'Ctrl Mute' this is referring to?
Something on the Axiom? (no button labeled 'Ctrl Mute')
Something in Live? (can't find a reference to 'Ctrl Mute' or 'controller mute' or 'control mute' anywhere in the manual)
Ctrl+clicking a track mute button?? (doesn't work, brings up a menu...)
Anyone manage to figure this out?
