[OT] Sonic Charge plug-ins: Synplant & Microtonic

Just wondered who else is using these great VST instruments?

I've had Synplant for a couple of months, and the novelty of the interface still hasn't worn off. I just keep getting better and better sounds from it! :D A lot to be said for limiting the number of plug-ins you use... :!:

I got MicroTonic this week. Sonic Charge emailed me a voucher for $30 off. I had tried the demo years ago and liked it. It's proved to be another solid purchase: fantastic sound, easy to edit and create your own patches, and like Synplant a low CPU hit.

Great stuff!

Synplant is really outstanding.
It is from the programmer of Reason's Malstrom.

Indeed. I am using both products and they both are unique. I only wish ALL parameters in Synplant could be also controlled by MIDI.

Microtonic is excellent, really nothing like it as far as ease of use for sound design, especially in its price range. I'm tempted to use the coupon offer to get Synplant as well, and since the price will go up after the new year. Still haven't heard a musical demo with it yet that really knocks my socks off though.

Synplant is excellent for what it does, but it's a little but limited in terms of scope of sound. If you already have a good FM synthesizer (FM8 etc) you might find it limited soundwise.

Interface wise it is great and refreshing to use, and easy to come up with new sounds, esp if you're someone who isn't a sound designer but who likes to use random patches as a starting point for new sounds.

It does have some unique features e.g. the ability to assign a different sound to different notes in the scale, which opens up some nice possibilities e.g. for arpeggiators.

Also, a new version of Synplant is in the pipeline (according to the creator), but no idea when.

I use Synplant in almost every track I make. It's my to-go synth for pads and abstract sounds.

I have a coupon for $30 off on SonicCharge products for offer. Needs to be spent this year.
PM me when interested. First come, first serve.

** EDIT: Coupon handed out, no longer available **

Big fan of both of these plugs, great sound and fun to use. I love the fact that someone finally broke away from the conventional way to program a synth.

Yeah I really like these 2 as well. With the helix thingy you can get in there and program your own sounds. Good idea for the arp. with different sounds on different keys, nice.
