Im going in the studio this weekend to record with my band, and most of the tracks were gonna be laying down are heavy on ableton. i have had so many problems with live 8, but now it seems theres something else happening too.

as of yesterday, whenever i am playing midi instruments in my live sets, the tempo will randomly jump up to 6000-15000 bpm!!! sometimes it will take a minute for this to happen, and sometimes it will happen with the first midi note i play. has anybody ever experienced anything like this before?

i figured it was just something weird going on with live 8 (as usual), but i am able to reproduce the problem in live 7 as well. that was the really scary part....

i dont have another live show for about a month, but i still cant have this stuff be happening when i go in the studio this weekend.

have you checked your midi routing and your midi map?

well i have narrowed it down to the fact that it is my novation controller, as i cant reproduce the problem with my mono evolver. still cant seem to figure out what is going on though...

Try looking at previous midi routing that you may have set up with 'Automap' ie settings you set up for the controller, not Live.

i also recommend a utility called MIDIMonitor.

you can watch messages going to and fro between your devices and Ableton. its very helpful for seeing messages that shouldn't be there: i.e. on the wrong channel, or midi loops
