Hi, I just recorded a power chord on my guitar with a distorted amp...I was hoping to put it into simpler and make some riffs with it but when I put the .wav file in, put some notes in the midi editor and play it back, it sounds really tinny or really fat and muddy...depending on what note you hit.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Nothing really. Samples only pitch up or down so far without starting to sound a bit weird.

If you want something more realistic try sampling a few different chords and bung those in an instrument with multiple simplers, a sampler or a drum rack and play away for something more realistic. (This process is called multisampling, if you aren’t familiar I’d recommend reading up a bit on it)

Make sure you have a play with pitching things up and down the way you did initially though. Some of the coolest noises I’ve come across are from sounds pitched ridiculously low.

It's normal.
And you have to understand it by yourself, otherwise you're gonna have many difficulties in your life...

It also helps to record your source dry at first (no distortion) and then apply the distortion afterwards so that the distortion algorithm is not also being repitched.

play your chords for each note you need. then chop it and build an instrumentrack with one simpler for each note/keynote. then adjust the key value to each simpler related to the keynote from your chord. its like multisampling in sampler.

i think thats what you need ...

cheers

@triss: ahhh, you wrote the same before, im blinded by the question ;)
