A few noob questions about Ableton

Hi there,

I'v been messing with the Ableton trial and watching the tutorial vids, and I'm blown away. However, there's a few things that I'm still curious about.

Firstly, how do you program/edit silences in a clip or sample? For example, I have a loop that I want to chop up by inserting some silence in key areas (to create a beat like sample). Is there a way to 'draw' the silence envelope like you draw the beats in Impulse?

Secondly, how do you adjust the default level of quantization when warping a clip? Is there a way to remove all the markers without deleting them one by one?

Cheers

You can either use a volume envelope to create silences or just leave gaps between samples where you want the silence to be - alternatively export the wav to a wav editor and create a silence directly into the wav file.

For getting rid of warp markers, you can do a right click on the first marker and select 'warp from here' and tha will remove all the warp markers to the right (and 'unwarp' the wav).
