I am trying to loop a mp3 that's a 16 bar drum break in the clip view. How do I do this without using the warp feature? What am I not getting.

Looping a clip requires you to turn on warping.. However if the clip is playing back at it's original tempo no 'warping' is taking place..

Do I have to go through trouble to assign warp markers if I just want the clip to play at its original tempo? I want to just drag in a mp3 and instantly have it loop without having to do anything else, is that possible? This is a basic feature of any mp3 player like winamp so I don't see how it's not possible in live...

This might be totally obvious, but mp3s have really weird boundaries... I wouldn't trust an mp3 to ever really loop perfectly.

no you don't need warp markers.
set the one.
type in the orig tempo.
set your loop.
play live at same tempo.
done.

you can use follow actions to loop unwarped clips.
for your file: set to 16 bars - play again.

^^^ what he said : follow action set to play again ...you just need to choose how long..
