NANOpad Ableton Coupon--- works on upgrades????

does anyone one know if the Ableton coupon discount that comes with the NanoPad can be used for upgrades.
either
Live Lite 8 to full version of Live 8
or
Full version of Live 6 to Full version of Live 8

i didnt try, but if i remember correctly, it says on the coupon that it does NOT. i promptly handed it to someone else.
