Audio Crackling when Scrolling

Hi all,
I currently have an issue with Live 8.0.9 where during playback when I scroll through arrangment view the audio crackles and causes Lives CPU monitor to jump about 20%.
I have a decent laptop only two years old and I am not running any huge VST plugins. The CPU seems to sit at about 30% on the particular track I am looking at now but it seems to be crackling when I do this with all my tracks.
I have updated my M-audio Fast Track Ultra Drivers recently and that has made no difference.
I was also having this issue with v7 so it doesn't seem to be a v8 exclusive problem.
If anyone else has had this issue or knows what could potentially fix it, I would really appreciate any help..
Thanks

When ever I experience this issue it's because my buffer size is too small... go to Options>Preferences>Audio and then click on Hardware Config and increase the ASIO buffer incrementally until the crackles go away - now doing this introduces the risk of increasing latency so you want to strive to get the best balance between as a big a buffer as you can get without unacceptable latency.

I have tried increasing the buffer size from 256 up to 512 and it seems to make no difference.
I have also tried with another audio interface a M-audio Fast Track Pro and still have the same issues.

I have the same problem on vista. I found no solution. I am terribly sorry, but for me, ableton L8 + Vista had been a disaster.

I had the same problem with xp and vista using an maudio firewire card... and then later an rme pci sound card. Now I'm using an old macbook pro with a firewire motu card and have 0 problems. I suspect it might have to do with virus protection, or something eating up your resources. I've seen live work great on vista on other peoples set up, I just never got it to work right. Especially if I wanted to record. On the mac I run at 256 buffer size most of the time. I doubt this will help, but in the output input config. Only make available channels that you plan on using. If you make all 8 outputs available, but are just using right and left stereo... this wastes processing power. Also if you have more then 5 or 6 clips paying at once, and you hardrive meter is getting loaded... you might want to defrag.

If you're on Vista, try running Ableton while your Windows is in 'Classic View' mode.
Go to Control panel, System Maintenance, Performance Information And Tools, Adjust Visual Effects and click for
maximum performance.
If you have a graphics card, also adjust its settings to maximum performance.
I had this problem and this solved it.

Just want to state that i had this same problem. Fresh install of Windows 7 x32 Ultimate and Live 8.1.1 with the windows theme set to "classic" actually caused this audio glitching.... setting my windows theme back to default (without aero) fixed my problem.
Strange that the opposite fixed it for you eggnchips?

Tried pretty much everything to solve exactly this problem today , including suggestions here
I found a solution which works for me 100%
Right click the Live desktop shortcut , and go to compatibilty tab
I had mine set to Vista (service pack 2) (and run as administrator)
** SET IT TO Windows XP (service pack2) and voila...scrolling no longer produces a cpu spike or stuttering audio
This works for me on Windows 7 64 bit
seems to work here - at last ...horrah !
