Im having problems with my UC-33 midi control surface. Im running a MacBook Pro OS X version 10.5.8 with Ableton Suite 8 and I cant seem to get the UC-33 to let me assign any controls other than the 8 faders. I click the midi button on the top right of the screen then click a button to assign and nothing happens. The instructions state that I do not have to install drivers because Im running OS X. The documentation for the UC-33 is not the best and there is little information on troubleshooting. A video tutorial would be excellent but Im not holding my breath. Midi is brand new to me Im a little lost, any input or help would be great.

I've wrestled with the UC-33 and documentation quite a bit (becoming much more MIDI-savvy in the process!).
First thing I'd check is which preset you're using for the UC-33, since it has a bunch. I think the factory default preset 33 is the best for working with Live, since it's got all the knobs mapped to different MIDI CCs without any channel information.

And the Enigma software for managing the UC-33 presets and patches is quite helpful, it's a free download from M-Audio.
