I have exactly the same problem, same Win7x64Ultimate. The standalone works, but Live can't see the dll files (they are where they should be, I checked).
There could be an issue though with Quicktime, as I only installed the QT Lite free stuff, I'm not into Apple very much and I have Foobar if I wanna listen to music... not really feel like bloating the system with another player. Do you have the full Quicktime installed?

For anyone else who is having probelms with vst plugins nor showing up in win 7 turn off
UAC.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows- ... ows-vista/
This worked for me. Cured T-Racks and Arturia suite not appearing in plugins list within live. Will probaly iron out any other issues with other plugins. I am in the last throughsd of doing a full reinsatll so when i,m finished i will turn UAC back on as it s part on Win 7 security.

I pretty much uninstalled/re-installed without UAC at all, and no go. The dlls are just not recognized... this is infuriating...

this how i made it work on win7-64+live....
-make a subfolder inside your vst folder
-move the IK .dll's in there
-go to live prefs and check the subfolder as your main VST folder
-rescan (now should be visible)
-close everything
-move the IK dll's from the subfolder anywhere your want inside your original folder
-open live and go to prefs
-set back you original vst folder

Thanks IP...
Tried exactly your proposed solution, step by step, no results. They are scanned very, very quickly, and do not appear after the scan. I begin to feel real stupid as I worked all my life with computers, help many people with their problems, and now I managed to look like some guy who thinks MIDI controllers have sounds and so on. I tried by myself all kinda stuff and this is by no means the first VST I'm installing...
One more thing: the dlls are all 164 KB. this is very awkward. Can you confirm there are 11 dlls, and all have 167.936 bytes?
Thank you.

Ok, so I downloaded VSTHost 1.47 and tested the T-RackS suite. It works as a charm, and all the VSTs I have installed are detected, including T-RackS. I tested them and they all work, and I really like this mastering suite. Question is now, how can I make it work in Ableton? More important, what's wrong in Live's detection system?

:/
i guess you run live as administrator before scanning for new VST's right???

Well,
That seems to solve it. However, if after detection Live is launched normally and you try to use a T-RackS dll, it says that it is not compatible with Live. I'll stick to launching Live permanently as admin, I guess... although I'd really like that it could detect the VST normally like VSTHost.
But the thing is that IP discovered the solution, so all credits to him/her and a big thank you from me!
PS: How come I never had to launch Live as admin for other VSTs that I installed (and I installed a few...)? What's different in this one?

I had the same problems with my t-racks singles from the GB.
From that time i always run live as administrator
It is needed
1. if you need to register a vst (not all)
(some vst's need special permissions to write the registration info into the registry or to a system location)
2. in case of an
IK like plugin, that seems to need always special permissions to do something (maybe to be able to read an encrypted reg file from a system location or something)
*** i may saying bullshit... these are just some personal theories lol :p
anyway, glad it worked for you

sorry to bump, but im having the same issue with NI's Massive VST. i use win 7 32bit, Live 8.2. UAC is off, im running as admin and i dont see Massive in my plugin browser. I dont have many vst's yet, in fact all i have is IL Gross Beat, but it shows up while Massive does not.
did i miss something?

Have you run Live as an administrator ?
(right click on the Live icon and choose 'run as administrator')
This solves A LOT of missing plugins or plugin errors in Vista and Win 7.

apparently the issue is that these plugins install by default into c:\program files (or c:\program files (x86)) and once installed, unless the program has administrator rights, it's not allowed to write back to the program files directly. T-racks does this, NI stuff does this (apparently), actually other IK stuff too. Make sure you are running 3.1.2 as well - i think there is a fix in the latest version around this issue.
Solution: When it asks you for the install path, don't let it install into c:\program files. That may fix the issue.
And I had an issue recently where SampleTank wasn't detected. Rescanning wasn't enough, I had to uncheck the box that says 'use VST custom folder' and recheck it, that forced a full rescan, and then it found it. There might be an easier way. I think at some point Live had tried to load it, had problems, and then marked it as bad. Rescanning skips VSTs it's already tried and found problems with, but this method seems to clear all that out.

reinstalled Massive to C:\Users\(me)\Documents\VST Plugins, ran Live as admin, rescanned and still nothing.
