I paid 300 euros for 1 gig of ram 5 years ago.

Crucial memory (the brand) tends to be the cheapest everywhere, and does the job.
Running fine on mine - so far, touch wood.

Amazing how cheap RAM is now. I replaced a 1GB stick in my MBP with 2GB, and I can't even GIVE away the old 1GB stick anymore.

i payed 5 dollars a year ago

MacSales.com does a "recycling program" (I have no idea what that entails, exactly), and will pay you for your old RAM, but it's something like 5-10 dollars, so maybe not even worth your time.

From my lurking on the mac rumers site http://www.crucial.com/ is the way to go. That's what I used about 3 years ago and everything is holding up pretty good.

Mac genius dude at the apple store recommended it. Good prices cos they manufacture themselves I guess.
I've heard good things about Newegg too.

I use newegg.com for a lot of things but when I bought RAM for my MBP it was the wrong chip type and that site doesn't really get into too much details as far as Macs go. So I'd go with macsales.com, a lot more detailed and specific on what you are getting for which Mac model.

gonna add another +1 on newegg, love that site for all my computer parts that i need. never go anywhere else.
