I didn't want to make a new topic, but I've been searching the site for 4 days and can't find an proper answer.

I have two midi keyboards (Axiom 25, Keyrig 49). I want to use both at the same time, plugged into USB ports on my computer. This isn't a problem, but what I want to do is use them both on different instruments within Ableton at the same time. I have found that I need to change the midi channel's of the keyboards and then change the tracks to only except inputs from the channel of that keyboard I want to use with that track.

So, is this correct? And if so, how do I change these values? I've got a rough idea of how to change the channel on my keyboards, but I can't find anything within Ableton that lets me change the channel that the track will except. I'm very confused and I have shows coming up. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be forever in your debt!

First, go to MIDI/Sync options. In the lower MIDI Port section, make sure that the "Track" option of the input ports where your keyboards are connected to is set to "ON" .

Then it should be straight forward: From the drop down menu in the I/O section of a MIDI track select the input port you specifically want to use (where the favoured keyboard is connected to). The standard setting is "All ins". Change that to the particular MIDI input you want to assign to this track. Do that for both your MIDI tracks.

Note, that any other MIDI tracks that still have "All ins" selected still receive MIDI data from all your keyboards when armed.

Does that do the trick?

I haven't been able to find "midi/sync" options. I'm not at home now, but I've been looking for something like that and other than the basic midi selecting options under "preferences" i haven't seen that. I'll get back to you once I get home, but where are the "midi/sync" options?

AH! Okay, i just didn't have the I/O settings enabled to view. Once i did that I could select each device by name for each effact I want them to control. Thank you so much! Such a simple thing but I just didn't know what I was missing!
