it would be really useful to be able to rename the group slot marker that is displayed when a group of channels is collapsed down to one lane.

This should already be possible. Just click on it and press CTRL-R and rename it or did I misunderstand what you mean by group slot marker?

you can do this to individual clips in the group, but when you collapse the group down to just one track, the individual clip names are hidden and you can't rename the 'group marker' that represents that clip.

yes, it can't be done -- which really should be possible. Abe's crew - please please please add this to the very next update!!!!
