Ableton Live and Line 6 UX2 Problems - UX2 Crackling
Posted: Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:58 pm
Since there seem to be some UX2 users here, I thought maybe someone could help.
I'm using Ableton 5 (which has always worked fine for me). Last year, my Echo Layla 24 audio interface went belly-up, and a buddy gave me a Line 6 UX2 as a replacement (until I can buy another GOOD interface).
I'm having latency issues (ASIO4ALL), as well as a very annoying crackling through the headphone and monitor outputs of the UX2. This happens at any combination of settings... but curiously, it only is audible in the UX2 output - when I render tracks, it's not there (thank God). It annoys the hell out of me and my fellow musicians when recording, though.
Line 6 will not respond to my repeated e-mails.
Can anyone using Ableton (whatever version, it's all the same at the I/O level) and a UX2 suggest any workable setting for buffer sizes that works for them?
And, more importantly, has anyone experienced the crackling? If so, is there anything you can recommend?
I have a VERY stout Windows XP Pro machine, quad-core, 4G RAM, which does NOTHING except run the studio. I am very experienced at computer recording (see http://www.teejnet.com/music%20-%20gear ... tudios.htm, and have been using Ableton for a long, long time. Read: I'm not a newbie, so don't worry about the "simple stuff"!
I'm becoming convinced that L6 has made a poor product... And their lack of response validates my assertion. And that saddens me, because I love my hardware Pod so well.
Help, anyone, please? This UX2 needs to last me until August 2010 or so.
