Live doesn't seem to accept any midi messages

I can't get midi to work in live. I'm trying to control it via my JP8000 but no luck so far. Anyone else had this problem ?

:pYou need to assign Midi controllers first - in the right top corner there is a midi button, pressing it highlights the midi-controllable events in the session view. you can then assign...
then you switch the midi thing off again and it works
