Just saw the Alesis DM6 kit... pretty fkkin affordable... anybody use an electronic kit (which) with addictive drums? Are you a real drummer originally and how does that work? I'm not shooting for ultra realsim, but I can play the drums and I'm getting really bored of steptime programming.

I know a couple of people with electronic drum kits. they're cool for practising at home (much quieter - good for your ears and your neighbours/housemates), or for live gigs with the built-in sounds (more portable/durable)
I wouldn't be so keen on a set just as an alternative to step-programming... if you want to splash out I'd try one of those zen drums. Haven't used one but, apparently they're the dog's.

I think it's recommended that you splash out before you buy the kit.
If you're not going for real feel(if the sounds are good it will feel good to play anyway) then i would just get a roland spd or a drumkat or something along those lines.
The kits take up too much space anyway.

Hi, I'm using Roland TD10exp with Addictive and Surperior drums.
They both work fine with my electric kit and I like both.
I am a real drummer enjoying playing my beats and things straight out.
Feels so good!

Ha that's the answer I was looking for!
Arigato gozaimsu!
-->> I really want a real kit, no button boxes, that would just be another MIDI controller thing. I don't want drumpads, because the kick-hihat snare thing and playing them all at the same time is what makes a drumkit a drumkit (drums were the first instrument I ever learned) so I guess.... I do want a drumkit....
I have nothing against programmed drums but I CAN play drums and I think it would be so much quicker getting it in there I'm fine with nudging things around and editing like crazy but it seems so nice to just input it naturally...
Also space is not really a problem, I live by myself and the whole house is in use as a studio I have space for an electronic kit...

That may be but I don't have Roland money (slaps himself on forehead) second hand!!! Why didn't I think of that....

I just got the Roland TD4K over the Alesis DM6. It was double the price but I was happy with the product. In AD there are preset maps for various Roland, Yamaha and Alesis kits. However only the DM10 and not the DM6 is supported by a preset.. Midi mapping is easy peasy though.

I know you can add a hi-hat and bass drum pedal to the drumkat and i'm sure you can on the roland spd as well. whole kits are a waste of time if you ask me, they take up too much(unnecessary) space just like a real kit and you can get pretty much the same feel on the pads.

I'd love to get such a kit, for real drumming... but it makes even too much noise for the neighbours in a flat...
one day!
BTW addictive drums is DA BOMB
I use it a lot in my electro house productions, as a second drums layer or for some dropdowns, rock or breakbeat parts... it gives me a really specific sound.
love that.
