I'm thinking of buying Ableton Suite + evtl one of the APC controllers.

APCs include a lite version of Ableton, i can't find the price for the upgrade to the full version.
(I would have to register a product first to see the prizes, great transparency....)

I don't own an APC nor Ableton yet!

ya upgrades are bassed upon your ableton account and liscenes so yes you would have to register to see your specefic upgrade prices

you're right

You'll probably find that there isn't really an "upgrade" price, and that you'll be limited to buying either Live 8
or Live Suite.

I was in a similar situation, having just bought a Launchpad.

I found a ticket inside which offered "up to 30% discount" on an upgrade, but when I registered the serial number
and selected the upgrade option, the prices offered were exactly the same as the "full version" prices.

Also, the only upgrades available to me were to Live 8 or Suite - no option for Intro.

but that bad news is you just missed the big discounts they were giving away

Ableton is proud to support students and teachers by offering educational discounts on full-featured, upgradeable versions of Live.

These discounts however, do not extend to upgrades or instruments.

You'll therefore find you are better off purchasing an educational version of Live 8 or Ableton Suite rather than upgrading from the APC Edition (Live Lite) under standard pricing.

or and the edu discount isnt half bad by the way,, i used it to upgrade from 5 to 7

buy the upgrade from somwhere else then.
even with the 10yr anniversary discounts offered by ableton (now ended), the upgrade was still cheaper for me to buy from a regular music shop.
the upgrade prices for apc and luanchpad are the same, i upgraded from launchpad lite to boxed live 8 with eic for £200, the upgrade to suite was £379, but because i only want live to sync effects with traktor i dont think i need Suite at the moment.

Hey dude, I bought a LaunchPad just before xmas for £150, it comes with Ableton Launchpad edition, at the same time, my friend bought an APC-40 which comes with Ableton APC40 edition. The two versions are basically identical.

I upgraded to Live8 being fed up with the limitations on the Lite version, cost me 205 EUR

I then upgraded to Live8 Suite to get the Operator and Sampler instruments, cost me 189 EUR


Note: these prices had 20% off because of the Able10 Sale that ended 15th Jan.
