Automap and Ableton

hi
i have a remote 25SL compact with automap (standard 3.2).
i've always used ableton's automap template. but there was one knob that i needed to change the master volume - i "connected" the physical knob and ableton's fader with APPLE + M. this worked for a while.
for some reason this knob doesn't work anymore so i'm trying to reconnect...

so, i have an automap template that works. all the knobs have as Port "ComnPort".
but i want one knob outside of the automap. so i edit it and choose "U1 M1" as port. then i do the APPLE + M but ableton doesn't receive the signal it seems.

can somebody help?
thanks! pieter

what do you have selected at the midi inputs (in live's preferences..)?

(usually : RemoteSL-1 is for 'remote' and keyboard
and RemoteSL-2 is for 'remote' and 'control surface'
RemoteSl-3 disabled)..

yes... for 'control surface' that's correct..
but..
check under the 'conrol surface' list:
input :
sl 1 - key / remote - enabled
sl 2 - remote enabled
sl 3 - all disabled
automap - remote enabled
output :
sl 1 - remote / sync enabled
sl 2 - remote enabled
sl 3 - all disabled
