hi pitched noise from kontakt

i get a hi pitched noise when using kontakt as a vsti in ableton 4, this starts as soon as i trigger a note and stops only when i delete the kontakt vsti from the vsti window. (this is not the only vsti that does this (muon tau, Tau Pro, neon). any ideas?
