Was wondering if anyone could give me some basic tips for using my SPD-S with Live? Just using a basic midi/usb interface....I'm a bit confused!
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

what are you hoping to do with it that you can't do?
You need to enable midi input in your midi interface. And if you want to play a Live drum rack, well, live, you need to set the monitoring correctly (if auto, channel must be in record mode to monitor live playing, etc.).
