My question is concerning the cue function in Ableton. The use of this function requires two dedicated audio in/out connections. The new macbook only has a stereo mini plug and two usb ports. Is there still a way to use the cue function with this setup? If so, how?
thanks for the help.

You only have L & R out without adding an audio interface. You could still use one side for the main and one for cueing if you wanted though.

Get a pair of USB headphones. This works on PC so im assuming it works on the Mac.
USB headphones actually install themselves as a separate soundcard giving you an extra output that you can assign to cue. I think core audio will let you aggregate this device with the built in soundcard. Maybe a USB headphone having mac user can verify this?
