I am pretty new to ableton,I am trying to record my acoustic drums in ableton using 10 mics what would be the best way to go about this. Is there any way to put audio in drum racks? I want to have each drum on separate channels to add different effects.PLEASE HELP

Do you have a sound card that supports 10+ channel inputs?
Have you read about recording in the help view?
Watched any videos on Ableton?

create 10 'audio tracks'... route each input on the interface to an input on an audio track ...
record enable all 10 tracks !
then you have 2 options :
record in 'arrangement view' :
just hit the 'global rec' and play ..
record in 'session view' :
launch a 'scene' to start recording on 10 tracks together... (you need to enable 'record on scene launch' in the preferences to do this.)
you can hit the 'global' rec if you want the recordings to be in arrangement as well
other than that...rt(f)m

And don't forget to check that exclusive arm is not on in preferences/record-warp-launch.

yes i have 16 channels on my sound card.I have had ableton for a little over a year now i have the basics down.I have been useing my electronic drum set to record.now wanting to record my acoustic set. i understand the arrangement and session view way to record.I think its in impluse or drumracks you can load a kit then click on the side and a mixer opens up with the individual drums. is there a way to do this with audio? probably a stupid question but hey.... im a drummer...im learning thanks for all the replies

Create as many audio tracks as you need, select them all and pres ctrl g
Read the manual on group tracks.
What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians........?
A drummer
Sorry, I couldn't resist it.

Hi Farealdoe,
Check out the "External Audio Effect" and if you need MIDI, the "External Instrument".
These devices allow you to route audio inside (Drum) Racks. You can then create a preset which you can reuse while recording drums. Keep in mind that Simpler/Sampler can't record audio.
Cheers
