Post by Hidden Driveways » Mon Jan 25, 2010 6:11 pm

Tablet schmablet!

Just merely waiting around tapping my fingers isn't cutting it anymore. I feel the need to create a thread to encant the spirit of the future QuadCore MacBook Pro... to do a rain dance of sorts to make it arrive. Sometimes you have to will things into being.

::bongo drums banging, rain sticks raining::
HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA!!

If you're with me, join me in this chant!

i7 Processors! HOO-LA-LA-LA! Quad and Octo options! HOO-LA-LA-LA! 32GB RAM capacity! HOO-LA-LA-LA! ExpressCard Slot option on all models!!! HOO-LA-LA-LA!!!! Two FireWire ports!!! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA! Glossy and anti-glare options!!! HOO-LA-LA-LA!! Again, ExpressCard Slot option on all models!!!!!! HOO-LA-LA-LA!

Just ordered my wife a MacBook Pro, our first venture into the land of Apple since we got rid of our //e and got an Amiga :)

I'm waiting for a Mac Pro update I think before I swallow the Koolaid as well. The quadcore MacBook Pro sounds nice, but only if the battery life isn't crippled.

who cares about a macbook pro quadcore? like always, they're late at delivering the same i can use since long long time, or short time. depending on if you think about quadcores in general, or i5/i7 based systems.

but for once no omg something new from apple can't wait for that magic tablet thing that everyone talks about and apple never actually had to say anything and still got so much free marketing over something they maybe never considered on their own blabla yeah i hate them :) i'd like to get free marketing over nothing :)

I sometimes get the feeling you don't like Macs Dave.

i like the devices when they fit the puprose. but i don't like the behaviour of the company, very monopolistic and "we know better" all the time, very closed minded. and i don't like the behaviour of the whole it industry hyping them into heaven, praising them to be the incarnation of jesus himself in form of a laptop, a phone, and what else (and yes, they go quite near to that).

most news pages had at least one apple tablet news each day since months now. with NO statement ever from apple about such a device. all just hype hyping itself.

the os is of questionable quality having bugs lying around since years without fix (one being the awesome one that, if you copy something over the network, or to usb, and unplug while doing so, both source and destination file can get lost immediately). they hate backwards compatiblity, resulting in bugs f.e. in live with each minor os update (that you have to pay for).

their hw is not designed for professionals in mind anymore, it's a completely consumer oriented device, not fitting any professionals needs really.

so they are pretty, and quite nice built devices, not fitting me for music business, not for development, not for daily rought usage, not for anything, really.

and definitely not fitting my money.

Well, sorry to say but this thread is all about pumping hype into something Apple never actually had anything to say about.

So buy Apples everybody! Buy Apples, buy Apples, and buy Apples!

I cheer for all things Apple.

Except spec upgrades. It's like cheering for the new tires on your car. You're still going to be fucked in a couple years so why waste excitement energy on that.

Because the Core 2 Duo processors are from 2006. I've been waiting to upgrade and I'd rather pay the same price for twice as much computer.

Proper decent mobile versions of the i5/i7 have only been about a few months, and I don't have money to buy a new laptop every few months. Hence, I care! The first round of nehalem mobile processors weren't really much faster than the C2D. The fact I could have got an alienware/viao/dell a month or 2 ago maybe, doesn't make it less exciting for people who waited an extra month or 2 to get an i7 with OSX, a slim unibody design, and a nice big multi-touch trackpad! I've been waiting since the first Nehalem desktop processors over a year ago, so the short extra wait doesn't matter to me!

HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA!! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA!! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA!! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA!! HOO-LA-LA-LA! HOO-LA-LA-LA!!

The iJesus Tablet that will bring world peace to all, end global poverty, and run out of battery half way through the 12hr flight will be great to see, but it's the 17" laptop that outperforms my desktop is what I'm actually going to buy....
