Title says it all...

Been there. Not mad about it.

What I don't get is there seems to be a lot different problems to be fixed but when they release the new revs the change log only has about a dozen things that are super specific on it which doesn't really seem like a lot in comparison to the complaints. Maybe they do a bunch of minor fixes that they just don't mention. I really don't know how these things work. Just always seemed odd to me.

Who has the biggest bum/ass at Ableton?

A bug is supposed to get a number in brackets like so [1234] then you can relax, or someone at Ableton can say "we can't reproduce or what do you mean please clarify" and then you can do that, instead they're just sitting there, thought I'd mention it on the general forum.

I've been working in the software testing sector for over 6 years now and at them moment I honestly get the impression that the testing department at Ableton is

1) Under resourced
2) Poorly realised
3) Simply not listened too

So you did not send the ALP bug report?

i make a habit of not complaining, but this is at a point of surreality. when was v8 initially released? because since that date i've been beta testing, with various highs and lows in terms of stability. unfortunately, at v8.1.1 it is at the worst it's ever been for me. i just hit upon a "fatal error" that won't even let me load a particular au plug. i've used live since v1.5, and this is the first time i've seriously considered jumping ship: i need something that works. same here, i started a thread, sent loads of bug reports. nothing. Luckily after i deleted all my vst's and stopped using reason and uninstalled quicktime it doesn't seem to crash as much. But i have no idea which one of the three was causing the problem

Live requires Quicktime to work at all.

i think that the Ableton concept of having willing users as alpha testers and all users as permanent betatesters has only worked up as long the coders havent done big mistakes..




You have to see the fact that on the initial release of live 8 there was a 100% crash guaratie when using midi on certain apple computers... very comonly used apple computers.. standart mac books..


How is it possible that such a letal and esay to come along bug has surived the initial betatesting?

i have asked this a dozent times.. and never got an answer..


Actually it is a scandal to do such a sloppy betatesting.. and needing 8 month to realise officially that somethong has went wrong...
especially because the public beta testing of ableton has allowed heavy bugs to surrive in the past.. and has been prooven as sloppy before tha L8 disater allready..

That all is very strange..
will someone eventualy tell the truth?
And is Ableton able to learn? i doubt it..because learning in this case would mean to invest more money into betatesting..

I think Tone Deft will be the wind beneath my wings on this one. During the initial public beta testing phase a lot more people saw it as a way to use a free preview of Live 8 than doing actual beta testing and reporting.

Now that people actually paid for it they're taking it a little more seriously, the users that is.
