MacProVideo just released a tutorial series on producing DnB and my first thought was that it should be interesting to watch. My second thought was does anybody even care anymore?

While other Electronica genres are busying themselves by morphing into something else, I hardly hear a peep from the DnB team. Anything going on there?

Theyre all making Dubstep now.
I think the genre has developed substantially over the last few years... its moved from the UK jump-up pilled/up ganja smokin bleeby basic clown-step focus to a much more techy focused sounding.. theres been a great minimal movement from the likes of Alix Perez, ElectroSoul System, et al, And the darker Noisia, Spor, et al.
I like that its moves from an unintelligent sound to a more advanced sound.

The thought of - what must now be - a bunch of 30something ponces grooving on the dance floor to some good old DnB in some bizarre attempt to resurrect the Glory Days is really too horrifying to contemplate.

I only "danced" to DnB a couple times and I remember it being really good exercise, but much like jumping rope you can't really slyly move away from the wall and work your dancing into your walk to the center of the floor. I had to stand still, do a count off in my head, and then just start bouncing like popcorn.

@ re.mark. Interesting about the migration to a different sound. So I guess maybe this tutorial is a year or so behind the times.

Drum and bass died when mid 30's aged housewives started listening to Pendulum. At least thats when i stopped listening.

So Pendulum was to DnB as Warrant was to Glam Rock? Ironically Pendulum is now doing rock music. Maybe they'll be the world's first morphing virus band that destroys each genre as they plow through it.

Seriously. I'm a lover of many genres but DnB has always made me want to slice my chest skin off very slowly and then simmer it in a lot of butter.

I was aware of DnB for a long time but I'm sure to the disappointment of many on here I sort of warmed up to it through artists like Pendulum who added an element of soul and melody to it instead of just attempting to crack your rib cage with ultra low frequency bass drums, monotonous mechanical bass lines, and a tempo that is mostly only good for playing GTA to.

I have to hand it to white people for ruling the world of multi-genre exploration and invention but there's also a great many that fall under "just because you can doesn't mean you should". Perhaps it's our complete freedom from the notion that we should be able to dance well that allows us to frequently step off the cliff of what is musically pleasing.

Dude, listen to the newer more softer, techy, experimental, minimal side of it and you'll bare witness to a whole new world.
