Does anyone have any experience with MIDI guitar or bass pickups? I was thinking about putting one on my bass but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I remember playing around with one a few years ago and was really disappointed because if a note wasn't perfectly in tune, it wouldn't be recorded. Does anyone know if they've made improvements? Anyone use one and love or hate it? Recommendations? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use a roland Gr33 with a guitar & think it is great. (Haven't tried a bass) You have to spend some time setting up the pick-up getting the right distance from the stings, & with the sensitivity settings on the Gr33. But then it works great. I have just bought ableton suite & hope to set it up so I can play the synth's from my midi guitar

Check out the Sonnus B2M--just $100 to translate bass guitar into MIDI. There is a built-in tuner to ensure the bass tuning works with minimal latency. Yes if the bass is out of tune it can't work because MIDI is so exacting. But the built-in tuner makes it easy. If you're able to get by without polyphony it's a great solution for recording in MIDI.
