[mma] Bizarre problem with pitch

This sounds so unbelievable that I feel a bit odd about mentioning it, but...
I sat down to work on an ongoing project tonight and, I kid you not, the pitch of the bass line has apparently shifted. Same soft synth as before, same notes, but it's like somebody put a MIDI pitch shifting device in the chain and bumped it up a couple semitones. Not able to find any obvious cause, I went back and loaded "known good" backups from days past but-- same problem.
I'm totally baffled. Is there any plausible way this could happen, like a rogue MIDI controller spewing out random "pitch up" or "pitch down" instructions? I know the obvious thing to do is toss in a different bass program, but I'm just trying to get a feel for how I might have caused this to happen?

Incredibly, I just had the same thing happen to me. Ver 8.1.1. I want to hear from Ableton on an explanation or possible cause. Hopefully not yet another bug.

Hmm. I'm on 8.1.1 and am suddenly getting pops/crackles when launching a newly recorded clip.
Are you guys on Macs, by chance? I've been careful to not accept any software upgrades as of late, but you never know.
Just trying to isolate things....

I'm on a PC and yeah I've been following your Snap, Crackle and Pop (Rice Crispies

) thread. I haven't had that experience yet.

Hi MarcAaron and tlennon,
to help you further I need to know
- the name of plug-in and type (AU/Vst) you experienced the problems with
- platform (MAC/Win) and OS version
- the exact version of Live
best wishes,
matthias

I've found what looks like a way to recover from this problem. Closing Live and rebooting the system makes it go away, at least in the short term. Obviously this isn't a long term solution because rebooting takes time, Live 8 takes so much longer to start up than Live 7 did, and my song is complex enough that it takes it a minute or two for it to load...

I think I was using NI Massive. XP with Live 8.1.1. I will try to reproduce but some problems are intermitent and arbitrary.

Hi Everyone, I have the EXACT same problem and am not sure if it's since I upgraded my computer hardware or changed from 8.0 to 8.1.1.
I am running 8.1.1 on Win7x64 on the following hardware
ASUS P6X58D-E (Overclocked)
Intel i7 950 (Overclocked)
Using onboard sound with an older CME U5 Midi keyboard connected via a Tascam US-122 Midi Interface
Ableton is installed on the OS HD which is an 80GB Intel SSD
I think the problem still happens even when I disconnect my midi keyboard and Tascam.
What gives this is very frustrating when trying to compose something.
