I want a MAC

Is the 'chroma key' feature in iMovie pretty smooth? or is it a cheesy version of the effect?

Can I edit and read EXCEL and WORD files right out of the box without purchasing extra software?

Is there settings I can use to limit what other users touching the Mac can only access?

(I don't use Google anymore, I use the Lounge).

I don't know.

No. But, you can try to do that stuff online with Google Docs. There may be some freeware you can seek out to do this. But a new Apple out of the box, no.

I don't know. Apparently you can control what applications open audio files too, so who knows. Anything might be possible.

You're going to miss some of the conveiences you're used to with a PC, but you won't miss them for long. Life is better on a Mac. Don't buy a new MacBook right now. Only buy a refurbished one from the Apple store, or a used one from a local. The current Core 2 Duo processors are really, really out of date.

You can read them through Quick view, you can view almost any doc with quick view on a mac (highlight and hit the space bar) but no editing unless you upload to google docs, purchase iwork (99$) or purchase office ($200)

You should try iwork, it's so much faster on a mac, office is really bloated and slow. plus iwork is cheaper and you can open, edit and export all word
and excel docs
