Dongle would be welcome

Hi!

I quite like the authorization in ableton...no forgotten or lost dongle....

nevertheless....I often miss the possibility of using a dongle.

I have a big computer at my studio with ableton where I compose and I have a laptop for live-use
so that are my 2 computers that I have authorized.

But I don´t want to carry my live-laptop with me..this one is strictly for live and rehearsing (for stability & reliability reasons)...but it would be cool to have live on a netbook or small computer that I have with me and don´t care too much...but I would have to buy a second edition of live

I would rather have a Dongle on my studio-computer and my netbook...
This is a feature I like with my cubase...I can install and use it anywhere as long as I have the dongle with me...

So in short, I think it would be nice to have ONE auhtorization on a dongle, and for the laptop I use live the second athorization that can´t be lost or forgotten

anyone who would welcome that too?

Not at all, what with my eLicenser and my iLok I'd run out of USB ports.

Thumbs down for a Dongle.

Just a serial number would be fine. Don't all these guys in Soft Dev. understand that every deffense is breakable. Every! Even a hardware related one.

So make it simple: just a serial is enough. Gee...

I don´t think they will step down from authorization... I would just like to have the option to use live on more than two computers...which I think would be easiest via dongle

If Live 9 were to require a dongle, I wouldn't upgrade. Simple as that.

thats why I don´t want a dongle alone but a combination....

or to but it differently: I want to use live on more than 2 computers! but never on 2 ore more computers at the same time

Hey, yeah, that's cool. If they put together a separate "package", which includes the dongle for those that for whatever
reason need more than two licences, that's all good. Just as long as it doesn't in any way spill over on "regular" users.

I've said screw it and removed both my Syncrosoft and ILok dongles from my system. Just another thing to lose/break/go wrong/have a software conflict. Bye-bye Cubase and Play.

sometimes it would be nice to have the choice, so you could use your license on different machines at will ... but def. not as a replacement though

but really the USB dongle system is pretty whack, someone needs to come up with a way of temporarily transferring an authorization between machines without using up a USB port... and dongles in laptops are a TOTAL PITA.

Maybe some kind of key file that could transfer by Bluetooth or something?

I did a show once with Logic, set my stuff up, all ready to go---left the stage while other's were doing their thing---when it was my turn, went up---and couldn't do a thing---some a__hole slipped that tiny little piece of 'pain in the _ss' out of my laptop and nobody saw a thing. You don't want to know what it feels like standing infront of hundreds of people waiting for you to go on, they see you there, and you're shut down 'cause of the dongle. I bought Live because of that and fell in love with it since---hardly ever open up logic anymore---but I'm with Sporkles---if they switch to dongles, I won't upgrade anymore.
