Huge bursts of white noise killing my ears and my system!

Live 8 vers 8.0.9 Win XP Core 2 Duo SP2... I'm now getting huge bursts of white noise that are killing my ears, my speakers and my system! Wow - this is definitely not fun. What is going on here? I've never had so many problems running an application. Is this what Ableton Live does when the demo is down to less than 24 hours? This is really messed up.

I run Reaper, Tracktion, Studio One, Acid, Sound forge, and have never had problems like this.

I'm really frustrated, mad, my ears hurt and I can't believe what a problem Live 8 Intro is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have also experienced random bursts of white noise before crashes. Very uncool.

So far i´m aware of 4 scenarios which cause "bursts of white noise":
(apart from accidentally programmed via enormous Clip gain etc.)
1. outdated Digidesign drivers
2. accidentally armed tracks causing feedback depending on the input routing
3. some VST´s in demo mode
4. faulty VST´s

Best,
Christian

I have experienced sudden pops of extremely loud white noise various times before crashes. My set has been limited to zero vsts, nothing at all using digidesign and I highly doubt that anything has been armed in the set in over a year.

I am not trying to be a complainer. I have recently felt that the tone on the m4l section has been exceptionally snarky and off-putting with at least one of the cycling74 characters when discussing problems. I find this more frustrating than the potentially equipment-damaging bug I have experienced. It has made me less encouraged to post bugs. But they are all real and quite common.

Thanks for your great demeanor and hard work, Christian :-)

Especially the JS x-mas card!!!

I have experienced the same white noise issue. It really hurts my ears and disturbs my work pretty much. Can anyone help me - and others suffering from the noise bursts - please?? I did not run any VSTs etc. when it happened.
