I used the midi-tools that come with m4l a bit, and loved the "max midi gran", used it on the vibraphone on this track, although this is very subtle here and could have been done with the normal arpegg as well probably:

The "max midi shuffler" is also a good tool for having your liveset improvise a bit with given midiclips.

Other than that I played quite a bit with the stretta-suite, but found it annoying after some time.

MLR is great fun, but I didn't make anything more than playing around a bit. I still have to find some loops that are worth producing something with it, but for wasting time with a loop library it's big fun

+1 for the Stretta Suite, my favorite being the polygome64 with the Launchpad:

And the real magic of Max For Live is to create your own devices! That's what its all about...

i like the lemubara step seq. that is ported from len sasso's USS from logics environment

(which is funny and great, cause M4L is just starting to better implement and advertise*, what the environment in logic already started over 10 years ago... len sasso and his website was the man... and a lot of M4L modules are inspired by this great man)

* i hope they will have more success, the environment was to far ahead for it's time, people did not managed to deal with such a future shock, back then
just mentioning it for the kids that think ableton started something real new here...

and maxforlive.com is the site!
