DKSTR - Lazy Days

I participated to RPM Challenge 2010 (to make a album in february), and here's what came up.
11 songs that you can blast on your ghettoblaster while sitting in the park and drinking some beers. It's a mix of instrumental hip hop, jazz, pop, reggae and all kinds of other stuff. Album has tons of samples from old music from 1920's to 1940's, all the sampled songs were from archive.org and considered open source audio or public domain audio, I hope that other people also check out the original songs. I approached this record in instrumental hip hop-way and thought this type of sampling is really big part of that genre.
I used Novation Launchpad + Live 8 Launchpad edistion and my standard Casios, Yamaha keytar and JVC keyboard + some acoustic instruments like guitar and melodica and even some singing.
And hi to everyone, this is my first post here!

That was very nice of you, a good first post to say the least. I requested you on myspace...but was unable to tweet while the download was in effect

Namaste,
Brainstrain.

I'm damn impressed, those songs are pretty good. especially for only one day's work!!
I really like your style and that's a great tip on archive.org and sampling.
congrats on running the RPM gauntlet and coming out smelling like roses. cool album art too.
are you thinking of going back and revisiting the songs to add/tweak/polish them or just call it DONE and move on? not that they need more work.

Thanks people, nice to get feedback!
Yeah it was made in 28 days in middle of work and my other band which had gigs during the month and all, I did it last year too (I R, which you can get from my bandcamp-site too), but I'm far more satisfied with this album (+artwork turned out good, I did them kinda fast).
Tone Deft: as a recorded version I plan for now to keep them as they are. Maybe if I ever get a record deal/some extra cash to properly mix/master and print album, then I could probably tweak some of the songs on the album for rerelease.. but I also like to do little bit dirty sounding stuff:) I try to get couple of gigs and then the songs are gonna be bit different as I like to play them totally freestyle with Launchpad, hehe.
I'm more familiar with chiptune-scene and forums around that but this seems to be pretty great place, people make tons of awesome music!
