What kind of sounds / what style of music are you looking for ??

Zero-G, Big Fish Audio, Loopmasters and Sonic Couture are heavy hitters in the sample CD area. They have gazillions of different sounds, instruments, loops, musical varieties, construction kits etc.

Or just buy something like Kontakt 4 or UVI Plugsound Pro, samplers/romplers with tons of tweakable options and huge libraries., with additional expansion packs etc.

I really like the Deadmau5 xfer kit (even if your not producing house)

electro vengeance is also great, some soft deep kick drums and some cool synths/bass one shots that you can get pretty creative with...

drum hits only > http://www.loopmasters.com/product/deta ... _Drumworks

that's a fat little pack for the price. single drums hits only.

Vengeance = overused + overcompressed (for sure)

plus there are many rumors that most samples and loops are ripped from vinyl/cds or even mp3 releases

Ya. It's clearly audible at times. Still, it's all in what you do with it. Even an over-used, over-compressed, vinyl-ripped drum hit can still be put to great effect if used and tweaked in the right creative context.

As for the OP, there's just too much out there to really recommend any one thing. Just start exploring the loopmasters and zero-g websites and see what you think. And by all means, start by grabbing all the free shit off the net. Like go to http://www.sampleradar.com and start there. goldmine!!!

Still itching to buy something, and my credit card is getting very nervous. What bugs me is that most sample cds seem to be mostly loops, which Im not too bothered about. I want multisamples, one shot synth stabs and chord stabs. Big synth sounds I can use.

Maybe I should be putting my limited money towards the Live suite upgrade or something anyway, or a posh VST with tons of presets. Decisions, decisions!
Get vengence minimal pack.
download it for free.. as if youll feel bad.. they stole most of their sounds
