clipping the master channel with oxford

Please help, ladies and gents....
im mastering my own 4/4 dance track, 127 bpm's.
on the master strip i have in this order
PSP vintage warmer, oxford dynamics, oxford eq, oxford inflator, waves s1 imager and last oxford limiter on gentle master safe mode.
All is well until i activate the limiter, i increase the gain to activate the limiter to 3db gain reduction, this then clips my master channel, but i dont see any clipping on the limiter ?
This is the first time i have came across this problem, doesnt make sense to me!
any thoughts are welcome
