yes you can go from RCA to xlr, it will be unbalanced but doesn't really matter with short cable runs.
unless you run the cable directly parallel next to a power cord[s] then you call for trouble.

the 8030s are small and rugged, but keep in mind they are heavy little bastards.

but you get a neat bag from genelec especially for them...

and good on you jumping the genie train  , hooray for 500 pounds / pair a steal.

thanks for the reply what do you mean "unless you run the cable directly parallel next to a power cord[s] then you call for trouble." The 8030`s are powered themselves are they not ?

yes, they are powered.

no confusion here, what i mean is that when you run a non balanced signal cable and you physically lay a power cable right along it, then you are very likely to pick interference from the power cord, showing it self in humming.

it is always advised to physically divide any cable that carries power from signal cables, especially when the signal cable is not balanced.

that is all.

Sorry no, you're fucked & don't listen to Subfunk he doesn't know Jack shit (pun intended) about cables. Wait for Tone Deft.

music you like, and i like to listen to them with very various material, electronic, acoustic, vox, etc.

take some good recorded acoustic guitar and vox, or acoustic grand piano music and some detroit techno, etc.
jazz, some rock, etc. if you are listening to various music that is, i personally don't think that all that, by all respect and love for it, mediocre sounding electronic music really reveals. take some steely dan, or sade or led zep and stuff like that. but of course also electronic music and techno.

what makes genelec so outstanding is not just the built and service quality but next to a flat frequency response the incredible stereo and depth 'picture' they reveal they are to me like watching a 3D movie compared to a 2D one.

but make your own decision.
