Possible to make tiny Tempo changes without SHIFT + ARROW?

during my mixing i like to make small tempo changes, but if i assign tempo to a controller dial Live will only give me tempo_range / 127 resolution, which will usually results in 1 bpm jumps - far too harsh.

i realise i can tighten the tempo range but i like to move over a vast BPM when i perform.

what i need is the ability for a control surface knob to increment decrement the same way as SHIFT + ARROW UP/DOWN does...can this be done?

Maybe you know this one already: If you go to midi map mode, then the tempo control splits in two: left hand for coarse changes, right-hand for fine changes (right of the decimal point).
