MIDI guru's!! - push encoders clip START position?

I have a BCN44
4 push encoders. (turn/push)
Knob 1 - Start Position/Start possition set
Knob 2 - Scrub/Loop on off
Knob 3 - Loop position/Loop set
Knob 4 - Loop length/ Loop end set
This is a great way to navigate your clips.
Can some midi guru tell me,
What is the best midi mode to set the turn functions to?
I have had good results with the bcn44 and ableton set to Absolute, but would Absolute 14bit be better???

ps, does anyone make (just) 4 push encoders of better quality than Behringer?? ( i wish the damn VCM600 incorporated this! Vestax take note!)
