iPad App from ABLETON

Wouldn't it be great to have a touch screen mixer and launch pad on an iPad, sending midi to Ableton???

I reserved mine today, and I'm already dreaming of the capabilities. I'm learning to program for the mac but I don't know the expertise needed to do such a thing.

Yes, but I'd rather have the full Ableton interface in iPad so that iPad app would instead send the commands to Ableton interface on my computer. There's no need to make it a crippled app and there are and will also be lots of midi controllers so Ableton should make something the others won't.

I'm quite sure even Jazzmutant will launch their version of Lemur (or something similar) on the iPad...

Well i would maybe like the "ABLETON" ipad app to work more with on the fly live set stuff in the session vew. maybe us it "wireless" to the mac or pc on stage. I the ipad bluetooth? Now that would be great to be able to walk on stage with the ipad and start stuff on the session screen why im over with the horns playing trombone then i can just go back and sit it down and start back with the apc. There is a few idea i have with that just the touch screen would be kinda cool for controlling some of the FXs too. Kinda like a KaosPad ;) I have some idea Ableton development team would love to test it in a live set show for you!!! LOL Im very serious!!!

I want to add that an iPhone app should also be available especially considering they will use the same technology.

Glad I ordered mine Thursday -- delivery date is now showing as April 12 instead of April 3 in the Apple store.

I'm really looking forward to some crazy iPad/Max stuff down the line.

I think that it would be a great idea once we get to the 2nd or 3rd generation ipad. Remember when the first ipod came out (the one where the wheel actually clicked ). Compare that to the third or fourth generation and that made all the difference.

Yes this will be a great idea and the way that all music production and performace will go to in the future.

USB for the love of Good, mulit tasking, and a few other things really need to be changed in the future.

Why not just use Live on a multi-touch PC under Windows 7 and make the Live interface more touch-friendly?

i don“t want controller, mixer and launch-knobs on the iPad:
get a mix-controller, a launchpad and you have it cheeper and better.

i want the arrangment view and the midi-editor on the iPad, to do real musical work (composing/arranging, not mixing)
without the mouse!

i would love that!

Because a PC running Windows 7 with a touch screen does not equal "more touch friendly". Windows 7's touch screen feature is a combination of the old pen-centric Tablet PC and the hand/finger-centric Surface Table. Many, if not most, of the feature remain pen-centric. Finger-tip touch control is an afterthought at best and simply ignored at worst, as already evidenced by netbooks with touchscreens running Windows 7.

People seem to be doing just fine making home cooked Max/MSP multi-touch controller plugins for Live running on Windows 7. Why can't we just get something official straight from Abelton?

It's true, many companies are going to make a fortune on controller apps ( that are often mapped to Ableton anyway) If you make the iAPC, you will sell a million copies, one of them to me. ;-)

I love the fact that I DONT have to do a crazy remapping to parameters to use my APC 40.
IT JUST WORKS.

If that experience is duplicated on iPad, it will be sheer bliss for my Techno Pop stage show.

See my review of KORG iElectribe, which is near 9000 hits on YT!

I would love to review a beta of any Ableton iPad product, btw!

vjfranzk, have you checked out LiveControl for iPad? It's a free remote midi script for TouchOSC that does everything the APC40 and Launchpad does and more, including the red ring around the clips but goes further with full visual feedback of clip/device/parameter names as well as a step sequencer.

One app I'd like...

One that lets you view and warp files on your Ipod or Iphone. Then sync them back to your computer for use in Live..

Might make my daily commutes on public transport a bit more productive. If I did 10 tracks a trip and 5 trips a week. that's 100 files warped and ready to use. In time I would otherwise spend getting bored..
