suddenly; after recording a 16bar loop last night, I fire it and it plays for one beat . . . and stops. The recording still looks like it exists

huh ?

can you describe that a bit more?

do you fire it from a midi controller ? are you in session or arrangement ? did you record it from an external source or from one of ableton's instruments? - when you say the recording still looks like it exists do you mean you can see the audio file/sound wave? - or is it a midi clip that you have recorded ? etc etc etc

do you fire it from a midi controller - nope, mouse click on the arrow

are you in session or arrangement - neither one fires the whole clip

did you record it from an external source or from one of ableton's instruments - vst plugin, it happend on several different instruments recorded last might

when you say the recording still looks like it exists do you mean you can see the audio file/sound wave? - or is it a midi clip that you have recorded - midi, didn't have a chance to try with audio files as I was tired & frustrated at trying to fix

. . . I'm certain I've mucked-up some stupid pref setting, or something . . .

ok - is it a vst sampler or synth - something like that you mean ? or you ve recorded something with a vst effect on it .. like delay etc ? sorry - im just not quite understanding completely

[quote="Mister Natural" midi, didn't have a chance to try with audio files as I was tired & frustrated at trying to fix.[/quote] .. ah maybe from this it is a vst effect ?

all i can think of at the moment is that somehow the end marker in the midi clip is situated before the end of the loop and that the loop brace is nt on and therefore stops the clip early

thanks for your help, Buz

I know - it's weird . . . recorded a GURU 16bar loop, a bass loop from Z3ta and some nice pads from UltraAnalog thru Camelspace that sounded very groovy. I go to play them back one at a time - either with the clip fire arrow or the scene launch in session - I get one beat of music. Argghh

loop braces haven't been messed with since my last succesful recording project . . . but I'll check

any progress dude ?

does this happen in every set? have you tried dragging the recordings into a new blank set ?

the only time i get something like this is when i fire clips (and only the first bar loops) from a midi controller and i have to change the midi settings - sometimes on the controller and sometimes within live (absolute, relative bit signed etc)
